Veteran Wesley Willard ’98 Now on Frontline Fighting COVID-19
“A war veteran is now managing one of the busiest ICU’s in Southern California… he’s not only saving lives, he’s helping his fellow nurses and doctors get through some of the toughest moments of their careers.”
From fighting on the frontlines in Iraq to now fighting on the frontlines against COVID-19, one of Loyola’s former star football players is using his military experience to help keep his fellow nurses and doctors grounded during the pandemic. For all of his efforts, Willard was saluted as KNX 10.70 NewsRadio’s Hero of the Week. The full interview can be listened to and read here.
At Loyola, Willard was a team captain, team MVP, Del Rey League MVP and was named to the All-CIF Div. I First Team. He also made the All-Southern Section and L.A. Times All-Central City Second Teams. He went on to play football for Army and earned a Bronze Star for his service as an Army Ranger in Iraq.
