The 40th anniversary of the Senior Service Project was reinvented to include an online format this year in lieu of a “direct service” experience. Loyola seniors paired up with Local Civics to build essential skills in leadership for when they were able to have a hands-on community service experience. After daily morning workshops with the Local Civics team, seniors would then break off and assist local, underserved elementary schools in various capacities online—as tutors, class helpers, teachers and more. The school day with elementary students provided the seniors a chance to put into practice the skills they learned from that morning’s workshops. An on-campus closing ceremony is planned for May.
