Robert Brandt ’15 Qualifies for Olympic Trials in 10,000m
High school and collegiate All-American distance/cross country runner Robert Brandt ’15 ran the 14th-fastest 10,000-meter mark in NCAA Division I history earlier this month at the Sound Running Track Meet on the campus of JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano. His time of 27:39.20 placed him well below the Olympic Trials qualifying mark of 28:00.00 and has earned him a spot at next year’s trials for the Tokyo Games.
One of Loyola’s all-time great distance runners, Brandt gives a shoutout to longtime head coach Dr. Lalo Diaz in this interview with DyeStat/RunnerSpace.com. The Pasadena native is currently competing as a graduate student for Georgetown University. His 10,000m time broke the Hoyas’ school record by 43 seconds and Brandt now holds a No. 28 World Ranking in the event.
