Melvin Robert ’01 returned to Hannon Theatre on Friday, November 2nd, to film a short bio for his upcoming news program, “The Beat on 1,” which will air on Spectrum Networks. Robert got much of his stage and screen experience here at Loyola, working on productions with longtime drama teacher and Hannon Theatre Director, Walter Wolfe. While earning his BA and MA from Loyola Marymount University, Robert shared his talents as a triple threat in singing, theater and as a television host. Some of his notable credits include RENT, Miss Saigon, The Wendy Williams Show, KTLA-5 Morning News and Good Day LA.

Every Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Robert will help bring local news to Spectrum Cable viewers. He will also be hosting his own segment, “The SoCal Scene,” every Wednesday evening, where he will explore movie premieres and cultural, music and art events in the Southern California area.
