Cross Country Team Officially Begins Season

After nearly a year-long hiatus, the Cross Country team became the first Loyola sport to participate in official competition.

Head Coach Lalo Diaz’s XC Cubs ran at Harvard-Westlake in Studio City on Feb. 13th, and no rust was apparent as the Varsity Cubs came in first and second place at the mini-meet. Loyola also hosted Chaminade for another set of races the following weekend at Smith Field. It was the first official sporting event held on campus in over 11 months.

Other Varsity sports have also begun workouts and training in an outdoor, socially-distanced environment. More Cub teams are expected to return and continue working out on campus in the coming weeks, with some CIF competition allowed to begin next month.
