Mike Levin ’97, Dan Crowley ’78 and Joseph Burghardt ’90 Suit Up for Public Office
In November 2018, Mike Levin ’97 was elected the new congressman for California’s 49th District. Upon graduating from Loyola High, Levin attended Stanford University and then earned his law degree from Duke University, later working as a clean energy advocate and environmental attorney. He also formerly served as executive director of the Democratic Party of Orange County.
Additionally, Daniel Crowley ’78 and Joseph Burghardt ’90 were appointed by former Governor Jerry Brown as judges for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. Crowley earned his law degree from the University of San Diego and worked as a partner for Booth, Mitchel and Strange LLP. He has also served as a former Trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Litigation Section and is a Past Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s chapter of the American Inns of Court.
Burghardt earned his law degree from the University of San Francisco and has been a deputy public defender with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office since 2000. Before that, he was a trial attorney at the Federal Defenders of San Diego, Inc.
