With all the recent volatility in many areas of the workforce these days, we know that Cubs can continue to help out Cubs as they have for many decades. It is during times like these that we must band together as a community, and as a family, to support one another. Many Americans have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic, and landing a job these days will be no easy task. Here is a prime opportunity where our alumni network can truly shine.
There is a distinct reason why so many Loyola graduates leave their high school education on their resume, even long after they have graduated from college: it’s because it’s really important. And it means something special. And because our alumni network is truly outstanding.
Cubs hire Cubs all the time—sometimes organically, sometimes purely by coincidence and other times by simply networking. Our goal is to formalize this happening and create a one-stop-shop where both employers can post available jobs at their companies and alumni looking for work can sort through a listing of many jobs.
With this in mind, last year we created the Loyola Alumni Job Board. In its first year, about 30 jobs were posted, which led to several hirings of Cubs. Our goal this year is to double and even triple that number!
We aim to have over 100 new job postings every year. Loyola Alumni who are employers at companies are always looking for great help, and you know what you’re getting by hiring a Loyola grad. We also know that alums of all ages, and certainly ones currently in college or recent graduates, are always on the hunt for that first job or summer internship. This would be a great opportunity for all involved and something of which our entire alumni base can be very proud. Our hope is that Cubs will be hiring Cubs in cities across the world.
Loyola High is special in that this is rarely done at other high schools, if at all. Our alma mater is a special institution and we are grateful for all of the support that this alumni network provides for the Cub family.

Lastly, we just completed another successful Career Day here on campus on March 6th. We are always looking for alumni to come back and speak to our current students and are looking to offer mock interviews for seniors next year. We think this will greatly benefit our students as they begin their next journey in college.
