Scott McLarty ’97 Serving as Head of Providence High School
Loyola alum and former LHS teacher Scott McLarty ’97 is now serving as the Head of School at Providence High in Burbank.
McLarty joined the co-ed Catholic college preparatory school earlier this summer after previously serving as the Head of School at Mercy High School in San Francisco from 2016-18. The Santa Monica native has years of experience working in education, theology and religious studies, including teaching positions at Loyola High and at St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco. He also served as an adjunct professor at DePaul University in Chicago and the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, Ill.
In addition, McLarty was the Director of Admissions at Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose and the Director of the Office for Peace and Justice in the Archdiocese of Chicago, representing the Cardinal Archbishop on all matters relating to Catholic social teaching.
While at Loyola, McLarty was heavily involved in theater, athletics and campus ministry. He graduated in 1997 and would go on to attend Loyola University Chicago, where he earned his B.A. in English and Theology as well as his M.A. in Theology/Social Justice. He is currently working on a doctorate degree (Ed.D.) in Catholic Educational Leadership and is a member of Loyola High School’s Alumni Association Executive Council.
